Week of December 18 - 20
I can't believe are at the end of our first semester! Time is flying by! Here are the updates for the week:
Tuesday, December 19 and Wednesday, December 20 are Early Release Days. Students will be dismissed from school at 12:30.
Lunch times on those days are 9:55 - 10:25.
Specials times on Tuesday are from 10:50 - 11:20.
On Wednesday, we will not have specials. We will have a school wide sing along.
Winter holidays are from December 21 - January 3. I am looking forward to seeing students on January 4!

I hope everyone has had a great November so far! We are busy working on many new standards and skills this quarter.
Reading: Informational texts - on grade level for this quarter is to be reading on a level K
Writing: Informational writing - including an introduction, facts and definitions about a subject, and a closing.
Math: Solving addition and subtraction problems within 100 using place value strategies - we no longer "stack" and borrow, we use base ten, number line, expanded form, and decomposing numbers to solve these problems!
Social Studies: The contributions of Tomochichi, James Oglethorpe, and Mary Musgrove
Science: Pushes and Pulls

I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend with their families! This week is Conference Week. We will be following an early release schedule every day this week. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 each day. If you need to change your child's transportation, please remember you must have a note.

I hope everyone has had a great weekend! We had a great week last week in 2nd grade. I am looking forward to conferences to talk about your child's progress!

Happening this week:
Homework will begin! Homework will always be a choice board. Homework is not required, it is optional, but it is great practice to see what we are working on in class. All homework is to be done in the homework notebook.
New monthly reading challenge will begin! Look at the September calendar in your child's agenda for the reading goal for the month. Remember, each night that you read for 20 minutes, please write the title of the book and your initials.
